Run For Sma
Event On - 10th Aug 2025
Description
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease that weakens muscles and limits movement. It's caused by a faulty gene that affects the motor neurons in the spinal cord, making it difficult for these nerve cells to communicate with muscles.
SMA is the leading genetic cause of death for infants. This debilitating disease robs people of their ability to walk, eat, or even breathe. But with increased awareness and support, we can change the future for families affected by SMA.
August is SMA Awareness Month!
While we work year-round to raise awareness for SMA, August is our time to put a brighter spotlight on the needs, wants, hopes, and experiences of our community.
