The West Point Sikkim Sarathi Run is India's first marathon dedicated to honoring "Sarathis" – the unsung heroes of the roads. Organized by West Point Gangtok, this event on Feb 18 aims to celebrate and recognize the vital role Sarathis play in Sikkim's tourism industry. The marathon, presented by Mesaso in collaboration with Gangtok Smart City Development, features notable figures like Milind Soman, Ankita Konwar, and Nepalese trailblazer Mira Rai, the marathon man of Sikkim -Amar Subba and the marathon girl of Sikkim , Asha Purbha Tamang.
The State Government's initiatives, including the Chalak Welfare Board, highlight their commitment to Sarathis' welfare. The marathon also positions Sikkim as an emerging running destination, offering various categories and substantial prize money to participants. It emphasizes the collective appreciation for Sarathis and aims to unite for this unique cause beyond the finish line.
