Thane has evolved rapidly from being an industrial town known as Mumbai’s suburb to trying to generate its own identity and one of the top residential hot spots in Mumbai. Its strategic location, ideal connectivity, improving infrastructure, and relatively lower real estate prices has helped the city to emerge as a metropolitan. 

Thane not bears a lot of distinctiveness not only due to heterogeneity in cultures, people, activities and landmarks but also because of its 33 alluring lakes located within the city. Thane is one of the large scaled district on the Western part of Maharashtra given its strategically ecological and security advantages with Creek on one and dense forests on the other side.

An increased focus on healthy lifestyles has increased participation in overall marathon awareness events in the past five years. We attract individuals, corporate houses, and various others and generate millions of impressions, and demand for our events continues to grow healthy living lifestyles

Overview –Burden Of Brain & Spine Disabilities In India

The basic objective of this Marathon is to begin a journey towards a Disability Free Life and this bears a lot of relevance as neurological illnesses account for 18% of deaths globally, according to Global Disease Burden Survey- 2019 approved by the Health Ministry Screening Committee at the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR-GoI), and by the ethics committee of the Public Health Foundation of India. Globally, DALYs ( Disability) from all neurological disorders combined exceeded those from all injuries , cardiovascular disease, cancer, and mental and substance use disorders.

Urbanization and changes in people's lifestyles

Dementia (Alzheimer’s disease being the most common cause) and Parkinson’s disease (A Movement and Balance disorder) are major causes of falls in elderly leading to disability in ending years of life.

Headache is another major area of concern for our beloved nation Bharat which has a promising and aspiring of young population.India has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35. This young population suffers from work loss due to Migraine and Tension headache which is impacting our nation building process.the estimated number of people with brain and CNS cancer in India was 49300 yearly (95% UI 38200–60 500), and number of deaths due to brain and CNS cancer was 23700 with prevalence increasing after 40’s and peaking in 60’s age group.

It is a shocking revelation that spinal cord injury (SCI) is an area of concern also. Add to it lack of awareness about adequate sleep, safe driving and alcohol abuse are the commonest concerns around SCI. Compounding the problem further is Road Traffic Accidents with Falls as one of the predominant concern for post-traumatic epilepsy leading to disabled for a life time.

Above all, we are also confronted with a disease named Cerebral Palsy due to lack of antenatal care and proper institutional delivery. This is leading to premature birth, low birth weight babies which are the most of the cases of Cerebral Palsy disabled at young age.

Refund Policy:
In the event of cancellation or postponement of the Solaris Thane Marathon due to COVID-related lock downs or circumstances beyond our control, we will provide alternate options to registered participants for participation in our upcoming events. Please note that registration fees are non-refundable but can be adjusted for future events.
