18th Kathmandu Marathon 2026: Run Through History​

The Siddhartha Bank 18th Kathmandu Marathon is an iconic international race crossing three historic cities: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. Founded in 2007 by legendary coach Nilendra Raj Shrestha, this AIMS-certified event trades flat, high-speed courses for scenic elevation shifts, crisp autumn weather, and breathtaking views of the Himalayas.​It is a true festival of athletic perseverance and community spirit, taking runners past magnificent ancient temples, living heritage sites, and iconic landmarks like the Dharahara tower. 

Important Pre-Race Schedule 

Before stepping up to the starting line, all registered participants must complete their mandatory race pack collection. 

•Packet Pickup Dates: Friday, 2nd October and Saturday, 3rd October 2026 

•What to Collect: Official running bib, event T-shirt, and runner's goodie bag. 

Race Day Schedule & Starting Order 

The event takes place on Saturday, 10th October 2026. All events share the same official meeting hub and reporting desk. 

•Meeting Point & Reporting Desk: Tripureshwor Road, in front of Dasarath Stadium, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal 

•Race Starting Point: Dasrath Rangashala (Dasarath Stadium), Tripureshwor, Kathmandu The starting times have been organized chronologically below: 

1. Full Marathon (42.195 KM) 

•Reporting Time: 5:00 AM 

•Start Time: 5:30 AM 

•Registration Fee: ₹ 3000 

•Age Categories & Requirements: 

°Marathon Open: 18 years and above 

°Masters 40+: 40 to 49 years 

°Masters 50+: 50 to 59 years 

°Masters 60+: 60 years and above 

°Note: Valid identification (Citizenship, Passport, or Driving License with Date of Birth) is mandatory. 

2. Half Marathon (21.097 KM) 

•Reporting Time: 5:00 AM 

•Start Time: 5:35 AM 

•Registration Fee: ₹ 2500 

•Age Categories & Requirements: 

°Half Marathon Open: 18 years and above 

°Masters 40+: 40 to 49 years 

°Masters 50+: 50 to 59 years 

°Note: Valid identification with Date of Birth is mandatory. 

3. 10K Run 

•Reporting Time: 6:00 AM 

•Start Time: 6:30 AM 

•Registration Fee: ₹ 2500 

•Age Categories & Requirements: 

°10K Open: 16 years and above 

°10K Masters: 40 years and above 

°Note: Valid identification with Date of Birth is mandatory. 

4. 5K Open 

•Reporting Time: 6:00 AM 

•Start Time: 6:35 AM 

•Registration Fee: ₹ 2000 

•Age Requirements: 12 years and above (Valid Student School ID Card is compulsory) 

5. 5K College Run 

•Reporting Time: 6:00 AM 

•Start Time: 6:40 AM 

•Registration Fee: (Refer to local portal registration details) 

•Age Requirements: 15 years and above (Valid Student College ID Card is compulsory) 

6. 3K Open 

•Reporting Time: 6:00 AM 

•Start Time: 6:50 AM 

•Registration Fee: ₹ 2000 

•Age Requirements: 12 years and above 

7. 3K School Run 

•Reporting Time: 6:00 AM 

•Start Time: 6:55 AM 

•Registration Fee: (Refer to school invitation guidelines) 

•Age Requirements: 10 to 16 years (Valid Student School ID Card is compulsory) 

8. 3K Family Run 

•Reporting Time: 6:00 AM 

•Start Time: 7:00 AM 

•Registration Fee: ₹ 5000 

•Eligibility Details: A fun, non-competitive community event designed for families. A minimum of three family members must participate together. The minimum eligible age for children in this group is 8 years.
