Description

Game for a tryst with nature’s marvel? No promises for spiritual enlightenment but surely expect a life-changing emotional and physical confluence. Dash, Sprint, Trot or Gallop… take nature in your stride!

India Endurance and DIT bring you for the very first time Sangla Valley Ultra Marathon and More.

This run is a true test of your skill, endurance, and technique with a mixed terrain of trail, tarmac, snow slush and many species of animals coexisting with us. Truly relish and appreciate the awe of raw virgin nature! As long as it lasts. So come one and come all, run for leisure and for a life that seems meaningful

Sangla Ultra Marathon and More, is a splendid high altitude run, starting from the quaint village of Rakchim going all the way down to Sangla Village and coming back to Rakchim and then going up to the Border village of Chitkul, the last Indian village on the Indian side of Tibet border sitting pretty at an altitude of 12,000 feet… rolling meadows with colorful wild flowers, apple orchards, small streams and pine forests lie against the imposing backdrop of the snowcapped mighty Kinner Kailash Range of the Himalayas and Baspa river flowing in between.

Chitkul is practically the last point of the famous Kinnaur Kailash, abode of Lord Shiva. Rumor had it that the region’s most beautiful young girl lived in the far-flung village of Chitkul… chase that feeling… and remember that the journey is far more enjoyable than reaching the destination….

On the left lies the Sangla Valley, and on the right, is a delight if you are an aficionado for appreciating the wonders of nature especially the stretch after Rakcham, full of apple orchards and wooden houses with a strong confluence of Hindu and Buddhist cultures.

The Baspa Valley also known as Sangla Valley, through which gushes the Baspa River highlighting the snow-clad rocky mountain slopes on the left bank has postcard mountain villages with wooden stilt huts surrounded by white fields of potato. Witness the Baspa river flowing down the mountain and valley covered with fields of wild flowers, with passion of a lover for a rendezvous. Follow arrows marked on rocks, past dense forests, rolling green meadows and waterfalls. Tip-toe on wooden planks to cross gushing streams. Follow shepherds herding their goats.

Life in this Himalayan village seems slow but the beauty of it is wrapped up in W.H. Davies’ words:

‘What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare; No time to stand beneath the boughs and stare as long as sheep or cows; no time to turn at Beauty's glance, and watch her feet, how they can dance….’

Surely this will leave you craving for more… so join us for the run occasionally to pause and delight at nature’s gifts…
