Description

Nashik is an ancient holy city of Maharashtra known for its mythological link to Ramayan. Nashik is also known for its mountains and forts that surround the city beautifully. The Western Ghats ranges stretch from the North to the South across the western portion of the district. Nashik is occasionally sobriquet as “The Wine Capital of India”

Temples and forts are the main essences of Nashik. The Anjaneri fort is a hilltop on the outskirts of Nashik. It is situated some 20 km away from  Nashik city and is close to the holy place Trimbakeshwar. The name comes from joining two words  “Keshari” and ” Anjanimata” the names of the parents of Lord Hanuman, so it is named “Anjaneri”. Popularly known as the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. It is believed that he still resides in the Trimbakeshwar ranges and so the fort is an attraction to many devotees across the country. Anjaneri also offers an astonishing view of the twin pinnacle of ” Navra” and “Navri” that can be seen from the village situated at the foothills.  Many history lovers frequently visit this place.

Anjaneri has 108 Jain caves that are found there belonging to the 11th and 12th centuries. The mountain gains an elevation of 1280m. The mountain starts by climbing the steps and crossing trails that narrow down to 6.7 inches which are a bit dangerous but easily connect to the next level. The trail passes between two hills that lead to many caves, and the hills are carved into beautiful caves and small temples. It has a temple of Anjanimata and many other temples offering tranquillity and prosperity. The trek is very easy and simple, beginner trekkers can accomplish the top in 3 hours. The trail is very straight forward and the routes are simple to remember. Trees cover the fort throughout. One can find their own veracity here and feel jubilant here.
